Find out how dental implant treatment works at Dentelo Clinic

Not sure what to expect with dental implants?

Dental implant treatment is a proven and scientifically tested medical procedure.

Dental implants can support an individual prosthetic restoration (dental crown), dental bridges, implant-supported dentures, or Fast & Fixed restorations.

Below is a timeline of the steps normally required for dental implant treatment.

The duration of treatment and the number of sessions may also vary depending on the treatment type (standard or with immediate loading) and the medical and dental condition.

It is important to note that there is no way to know the healing time for each person and all people heal and react differently.

Our smile makeover process

Dental implants is the recommended option for replacing lost teeth, offering significant benefits:

Initial consultation and examination

The implantologist will evaluate your dental and medical history, oral health and intraoral situation, perform imaging investigations (digital intraoral and facial scan, radiography, CT), clarify your expectations and, based on all these considerations, if you are a suitable candidate, present you with the different treatment options

Detailed clinical assessment and procedure planning

The team made of implantologist and prosthodontist performs a detailed clinical evaluation, and after analyzing the quality and quantity of bone tissue from the CT scan, they will perform digital simulations to determine the exact position of each implant and confirm the prosthetic details to ensure that at the end of the intervention you will have a normal, functional and aesthetic occlusion.

Dental implant surgery

Under local anesthesia, the gum is lifted for each implant and a hole is made in the bone where the implant will be inserted. There are two treatment options depending on the stability of the implants:

  • Standard in which the implant is left for 3-6 months to heal, with a cover/healing screw, and only after this period the prosthetic restoration can be performed

  • Immediate loading in which a temporary prosthetic restoration is fixed directly on the inserted implant. This variant is possible both for a single implant in the aesthetic area and for cases with fixed teeth on implants (All on 4/6, Fast & Fixed, etc.)

In certain situations, the dental implant can be inserted in the same session as the extraction of an unrecoverable tooth, and if this is not possible, the extraction is performed, the bone is waited for healing for 3-6 months and only then the implant is inserted

The provisional prosthetic restoration guides the healing and preservation of the gum contour and ensures, as appropriate, a functional tooth or set of teeth that look and feel natural

In certain situations, we can perform guided surgery, which offers superior predictability and the possibility of applying the provisional prosthetic restoration in the same session with the surgery, so there is no need to wait additional time for provisional restoration to be fabricated by the dental lab

Immediately after the intervention, the doctor gives you detailed instructions on what to do and what to avoid during the healing and integration period of the implants, which usually lasts between 3 – 6 months

After surgery control

Approximately two weeks after the surgery, you will return at the implantologist for a check-up to see how the healing is progressing

Impression and fabrication of final prosthetic restorations

After a few months, the implant and surrounding tissues are ready to receive the final prosthetic work. The prosthodontist will take a new impression to create these elements that will fit perfectly with the healed gingival contours

Final prosthetic restorations

When the prosthetic restoration made of durable materials is ready, the prosthodontist will fix it and make the necessary adjustments, ensuring that you have a normal, functional and aesthetic occlusion, according to expectations and initial planning

If temporary elements were used, they will be removed and replaced by the final restoration.

From now on, you will be able to eat, smile and laugh again without additional worries

For a successful dental implant treatment, detailed diagnosis and documentation of each case is required, the multidisciplinary team at Dentelo Clinic being essential in this aspect, and by using modern and digital tools, the desired tailored results are ensured in a predictable way.
